LogicInMind Releases AirTuner for iPhone

LogicInMind announced today the release of AirTuner™, an AirPlay viewer. It is available from the Apple’s App Store. AirTuner is the first mobile application designed to display photos and videos that are shared by AirPlay enabled applications and websites.

AirPlay is a wireless technology from Apple that allows you to stream content from iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch to the all-new Apple TV. For example it’s possible to start a YouTube video on iPhone and continue watching the video on HDTV. AirPlay is even better with iOS 4.3: applications from the App Store and websites can easily stream videos with AirPlay.

AirTuner is a new application from LogicInMind that turns your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch into a universal AirPlay receiver. There are many ways to take advantage of AirTuner. First if someone wants to share pictures, you simply have to open the Photos iPhone application, tap AirPlay and select your friend’s AirTuner device. Another way to use AirTuner is to watch YouTube videos. From the YouTube iPhone application, tap AirPlay and select the AirTuner target device. A third useful way is to stream videos and podcasts right from iTunes for Mac and Windows. Start the video in iTunes, click the AirPlay button and choose your mobile device. Future AirPlay enabled applications will create even more innovative ways to use AirTuner.

AirTuner can also be connected to an external monitor or projector using the Apple VGA adaptor. The mobile device acts like a small Apple TV connected to the HDTV and everyone in the room can enjoy photos and videos together. As a reminder two devices are required: the AirPlay source and the AirTuner receiver.

AirTuner could be a great tool for people using Microsoft PowerPoint. A first device running Slideshow Remote™ from LogicInMind can store and display PowerPoint slides. A second device running AirTuner can be paired to wirelessly display slides on a HDTV or projector.

AirPlay requires all devices to be connected on the same Wi-Fi local area network (LAN). Initial version of AirTuner does not support music or DRM protected movies.

AirTuner is available in Apple’s App Store for $0.99 in the U.S. and priced accordingly in other regions. AirPlay requires iOS 4.2 and devices on the same Wi-Fi network. External display requires a compatible monitor, Apple VGA adaptor and an iPad/iPhone 4/iPod touch 4th generation.
